Sanyo PLV-70 LCD projector review
The Sanyo PLV-70 native widescreen LCD projector is a top class model offering fantastic picture quality for home theatre applications. Of course it also has a large price tag but recent price drops have put it into the realms of affordability for home use.

Sanyo PLV-70 widescreen LCD projector
Very high performance LCD projector but probably not worth the money
With a super high native resolution of 1366 x 768 and a very bright 2200 lumens you'll get great looking movies with virtually no pixelation. Unfortunately with a price tag around $4000 you definitely pay for this level of performance.
The Sanyo PLV-70 LCD projector performance at a high price
With so many sub $1000 projectors coming out it's hard to be excited about a LCD projector that costs around $4000. However if your looking for a reliable "cost no problem" high performance LCD projector then the Sanyo PLV-70 might be what you're looking for
Although projectors using DLP technology are coming on strong the Sanyo PLV-70 is actually very competitive with DLP projectors in their strong areas such as low visible pixelation, high contrast and brightness. This projector suffers very little from the general LCD projector weaknesses and has all the benefits LCD technology has over DLP such as color accuracy and lack of rainbow artifacts.
The reason for the lack of pixelation with this projector is that for 16:9 material on the PLV-70 has almost double the number of pixels of a standard XGA resolution projector. In addition, the microlens array technology used on the PLV-70 to boost the light output of the engine also slightly softens the pixel structure. This means that there is no visible pixelation on this unit from a viewing distance of 1.5 times the screen width.
The 900:1 contrast ratio is very good and you get great detail in even the most gloomy scenes in movies. The Sanyo PLV-70 is also bright enough to be used in a well lighted room.
Color saturation and accuracy is this LCD projector's strong point and you'll find colors bright and clear without being abnormal in any way. This LCD projector is one of the best performers we've ever seen in terms of color quality.
An extra bonus in the Sanyo PLV-70 is its scaling and deinterlacing. The on-board hardware for these functions are top of the line. Even plain S-video from a cheap DVD player is obviously artifact-free. If you want to save some money and do without a high end DVD player then the Sanyo PLV-70 will certainly give you great results from any signal you throw at it.

Sanyo PLV-70 LCD projector one of the best
If you want super high quality home cinema on a huge screen then you may want to consider the Sanyo PLV-70 LCD projector. We struggled to accept such a high price tag but top of the line performance always comes at a cost.
We loved the color reproduction and scaling and deinterlacing hardware performance. If you're in the market for a high end projector you should check the Sanyo PLV-70 out since it will compare very favorably with high end WXGA DLP projectors.
