The Infocus X1 is very easy to use and all the settings are easily accessible, we were also impressed by the settings presets which make setting up a breeze. With it's great picture quality this projector does lend itself to home entertainment.

Infocus X1 new low cost performance champion

If you're looking for the ultimate large screen for games and movies at home then the Infocus X1 will have to be on the top of your list of LCD projectors to check out.

We found it had superb DVD picture quality with very little aliasing and pixelation. This "smooth" image is a feature of DLP based projectors and the picture quality was similar to the Dell 2200MP.

The 2000:1 contrast ratio is really handy when watching movies. Dark areas retain detail so you can still make out the action in gloomy settings. There is very little blurring during fast action and all in all we would rate the picture quality as excellent.

One issue that's possible is a "rainbow" artifact visible when viewing high motion scenes. This is a problem with the current range of DLP projectors and some people perceive it much worse than others.

Here are the specifications:

  • Projector Technology: DLP projection
  • Brightness (in Lumens): 1200
  • Contrast Ratio: 2000:1
  • Maximum Resolution: SVGA (800x600)
  • Estimated Lamp Lifespan: Approx. 3,000 hours
  • Inputs:S-Video, VGA (with pass through)
  • Replacement Bulb Cost $249.00

Infocus X1 LCD projector home theatre specialist

A huge bonus with the Infocus X1 is the Faroudja DCDi video processing, which handles de-interlacing chores when fed a video signal. This allows nice flexibility in your home theatre setup especially if you don't currently have a high end DVD player.

With stunning picture quality for movies and games and a street price at under $1000 this LCD projector has to be a string contender for your home entertainment centre.
